Feminist Shamanic Counseling arose from a new feminine psychological model that I developed over many years of shamanic study and practice. This model  is based upon my understanding of the content of the Medicine Wheel Mandala as a path of psychological and spiritual healing for women and a map of human consciousness. 

With ongoing Feminist Shamanic Counseling you become an active participant in healing wounds inflicted upon your Feminine Self - or psyche - by the various expressions of patriarchy to which today's women are subjected on countless levels every day of their lives. 

Initially, it is generally necessary for the feminist shamanic counseling client to be helped to recover from various wounds she carries, so that she may become better able to see, accept, understand and begin expressing her full femininity.

                  How Does Feminist Shamanic Counseling Work?

A Feminist Shamanic Counseling session begins with a shamanic visionary reading or "scan", during which you speak freely about your issue, while the feminist shamanic counselor remains silent as she uses one or more types of animal medicines to see and interpret the shamanic energies raised by your words and feelings. These archetypal energies are those which are available in shamanic reality to offer guidance for you. They may image themselves in many forms, ranging from animal spirits, seasonal landscapes or celestial bodies to ancestral spirits or  weather phemonena. The feminist shamanic counselor will know,  based upon what she sees during the scan, precisely where in shamanic reality she must journey to find guidance for you.

Following the scan, the feminist shamanic counselor journeys into shamanic reality on your behalf. While there, she seeks out and communicates with the specific shamanic energies that were present during your scan, and returns with guidance for you based upon their perspective on your issue.

In contemporary American culture, females suffer varying degrees of damage to their self-esteem and self-confidence, and to their sense of personal feminine power and authority because of patriarchal attitudes and abuses.

All forms of abuse create internalized psychic intrusions that negatively influence our choices, even long after the abuse has ended. Such intrusions can be ceremonially removed using feminist shamanic methods, and you can then learn how to shamanically protect and shield yourself from any further such intrusions. In addition, where necessary, special feminist shamanic healing ceremonies are created to address client-specific needs.

~  In contrast to other kinds of shamanic counselor training, Feminist Shamanic Counselors undertake a thorough mapping of shamanic reality and learn to create working relationships with the shamanic archetypal energies - such as animal spirits and ancestral guides - that inhabit it.

~  As a result of her meticulous mapping of shamanic reality, the Feminist Shamanic Counselor gradually develops a strong internal shamanic compass. This compass guides her in her shamanic healing efforts and in maintaining a sound ethical stance at all times.
 
~  Feminist Shamanic Counseling is also distinguished from other forms of shamanic counseling by the Feminist Shamanic Counselor's ability to correctly scan and interpret the shamanic energies that are availalbe to offer guidance and healing for your particular issue. ~  Before attempting to help others, Feminist Shamanic Counselors are required to engage in their own feminist shamanic healing process, using feminist shamanic methods.                                 Distance Consultations
I offer distance consultations for those living too far from the Center to visit me there. During an initial phone call to discuss your issue, I conduct a scan, just as I do in person.  I journey into shamanic reality on your behalf within the next few days to retrieve guidance for you, which I share with you in a second phone call. You also receive a written transcript of the journey, either by email or snail mail, as you prefer. The cost for this service is $125. 
                            Power Animal Retrieval Ceremonies
Power animal retrieval ceremonies must be done in person. After creating the ceremonial space, I journey into shamanic reality, find your correct power animal, and bring it back to you, blowing it into your body in physical reality. (It is crucial that any person attempting a power animal retrieval be qualifed by training and experience to do so, as otherwise, she may retrieve the wrong animal spirit, which can become very problematic for you.)  I then instruct you regarding how to integrate your power animal's medicine into your sense of who you are, and how to develop and nurture an ongoing relationship with it. The cost for this service is also $125.

Distance work can also be done with your power animal even though it cannot be physically retrieved for you from a distance. Your power animal can be identified and you can begin learning how to integrate its medicine, eventually creating enough relationship with it that it may voluntarily come to you physically. The cost for this service is $125.
                                 Soul Retrieval Ceremonies
Soul retrieval ceremonies must always be done in person. As in power animal retrievals, I journey into shamanic reality and find the lost part of your psyche,  and then blow it to your physical body. However, soul retrievals require a three-or-four part process: an initial consultation, during which the need for soul retrieval is determined (it may be something else that has caused your distress); a period of time prior to the actual soul retrieval during which you may need to perform certain actions or tasks in preparation for the soul retrieval; the ceremony itself; and a follow-up appointment to discuss your integration process, which you schedule when you feel that the time is ripe for it. Occasionally, in cases of a history of especially severe or multiple traumas, additional sessions may be required to complete the process. The cost for a three-session soul retrieval is $225. Additional healing work related to the soul retrieval is billed at $65 per hour.

A Note about Feminist Shamanic Counselor Training

Feminist Shamanic Counselor training is difficult. It is a rigorous, sometimes demanding, sometimes frustrating undertaking that requires one to discover the true measure of one's mettle, as one goes through one's own healing process during the apprenticeship.

A great number of women have attempted the training, but to date, only one of them, Nancy J. Rehm,  has gotten all the way through it, and has been certified by me as a bona fide Feminist Shamanic Counselor. 

I am very proud of her accomplishment. She is fully qualified to provide all the services described on this page. She has established a feminist shamanic counseling practice in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where she lives.
